SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Full-time

The primary duties of this position are to commission/service/maintain natural gas and diesel AC power generator systems located at our customer's facilities. Other duties include service/maintenance on various industrial equipment and assisting in the custom assembly and design of customer products. We are looking for an individual who is a self-starter, motivated, and able to address customer service concerns while on-site.

Essential Functions

  • Perform Service and maintenance on customer generators and electrical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot generators and related electrical equipment for emergency on-site repair.
  • Provide service manager with requirements for customer jobs including parts needed, specialty tools required, and any site restrictions or special requirements.
  • Fill out required documentation including field service reports, field expense reports, data collection during testing, and other business-related documents as required.
  • Manage truck inventory and supply requirements.
  • Track and maintain service truck assigned and any company equipment required.


Qualifications


Experience/Training/Education:

  • 2-year diesel engine or comparable trade skill degree preferred or relevant experience
  • EGSA training and certification preferred
  • Formal equipment repair & maintenance training preferred on generators, compressors, pumps, heaters, or other industrial equipment
  • Factory training on chargers, inverters, and controllers preferred
  • Safety and continuous improvement training a plus


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Engines, both natural gas and/or diesel
  • Transfer switches both manual and automatic
  • Solid-state, microprocessor, PLC engine and generator controllers
  • Diesel engine fire pumps and controllers
  • Load bank testing
  • Natural gas regulator and fuel system knowledge
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems and circuitry
  • Solar system configuration and off-grid applications a plus
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude is a must


Physical and Environmental Elements:

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Pass drug screenings
  • Maintain a professional work appearance
  • Field and workshop environment 95% of time with long periods of sitting or standing
  • Office environments 5% of the time (climate controlled)
  • Field environments will put technicians in the elements on customer sites as needed
  • Daily travel required (company truck provided) with long-distance travel required infrequently
